A Joint Optimization Criterion for Blind DS-CDMA Detection

چکیده
This paper addresses the problem of the blind detection of a desired user in an asynchronous DS-CDMA communications system with multipath propagation channels. Starting from the inverse filter criterion introduced by Tugnait and Li in 2001, we propose to tackle the problem in the context of the blind signal extraction methods for ICA. In order to improve the performance of the detector, we present a criterion based on the joint optimization of several higher-order statistics of the outputs. An algorithm that optimizes the proposed criterion is described, and its improved performance and robustness with respect to the near-far problem are corroborated through simulations. Additionally, a simulation using measurements on a real software-radio platform at 5GHz has also been performed.

An Application of ICA to Blind DS-CDMA Detection: A Joint Optimization Criterion
This paper studies the application of the theory and algorithms of blind signal extraction to solve the problem of the detection of the desired users in a DS-CDMA communications system. Typically, the uplink in this system is characterized by users that transmit asynchronously and propagation channels that are multipath. We address inverse filter criterion introduced by Tugnait in [1] and we sh...
متن کاملNonlinear Multiuser Receiver for Optimized Chaos-Based DS-CDMA Systems
Chaos based communications have drawn increasing attention over the past years. Chaotic signals are derived from non-linear dynamic systems. They are aperiodic, broadband and deterministic signals that appear random in the time domain. Because of these properties, chaotic signals have been proposed to generate spreading sequences for wide-band secure communication recently. Like conventional DS...
متن کاملJoint space-time auxiliary-vector filtering for DS/CDMA systems with antenna arrays
Direct-sequence/code-division multiple-access (DS/CDMA) communication systems equipped with adaptive antenna arrays offer the opportunity for jointly effective spatial and temporal (code) multiple-access interference (MAI) and channel noise suppression. This work focuses on the development of fast joint space–time (S–T) adaptive optimization procedures that may keep up with the fluctuation rate...
متن کاملBlind successive interference cancellation for DS-CDMA systems
In this work we propose a blind successive interference cancellation receiver for asynchronous direct-sequence code-division multiple-access (DS-CDMA) systems using a maximum mean energy (MME) optimization criterion. The covariance matrix of the received vector is used in conjunction with the MME criterion to realize a blind successive interference canceler that is referred to as the BIC-MME re...
متن کاملBlind joint soft-detection assisted slow frequency-hopping multicarrier DS-CDMA
A novel multiple-access scheme based on slow frequency-hopping multicarrier direct-sequence, code-division multiple access (SFH/MC DS-CDMA) is proposed and investigated, which can be rendered compatible with the existing second-generation narrow-band CDMA and third-generation wide-band CDMA systems. Blind joint soft-detection of the SFH/MC DS-CDMA signals is investigated, assuming that the rece...
